Author: Alex Nguyen

Alex Nguyen is a Vietnamese-American investment analyst and the founder of The Vietnam Yield.
Born and raised in San Jose, California, Alex studied Economics at UC Berkeley before spending six years in New York's financial industry — first as an analyst at JP Morgan Asset Management's Emerging Markets Fixed Income team, then at an Asia-focused boutique investment fund covering frontier and emerging market equities.
In 2016, he relocated to Ho Chi Minh City to invest directly in Vietnam's capital markets. Over the past decade, he has opened accounts at multiple Vietnamese brokerages, purchased property in Vietnam, and built a portfolio spanning equities, fixed-income instruments, and real estate.
Alex founded The Vietnam Yield in 2026 to create the resource he wished existed when he first started: a data-driven, hype-free guide to investing in Vietnam for foreigners. His writing focuses on Vietnamese equities, real estate ROI, banking yields, FIRE strategies for expats, and the practical mechanics of deploying capital in a frontier-to-emerging market.
He is not a financial advisor. Everything on this site is educational and informational — not investment advice.
Areas of coverage: Vietnam stock market, foreign investment regulations, real estate for foreigners, expat banking & tax strategy, FTSE Vietnam upgrade, VND/USD currency risk.
