EDITORIAL POLICY

How We Research & Write

Our Editorial Standards

Every article on The Vietnam Yield goes through a structured research and review process. This page explains how we work so you can evaluate our content with full transparency.

We cover financial topics — stocks, real estate, banking, taxes — that directly affect your money. That responsibility shapes everything we publish.

Our Research Process

1. Primary Sources First

We start with primary data whenever possible:

  • Regulatory filings and official documents: Vietnam’s State Securities Commission (SSC), State Bank of Vietnam (SBV), Ministry of Finance circulars, and Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange (HOSE) disclosures.
  • Verified financial data: Company annual reports, exchange filings, audited financial statements, and data from recognized platforms (Bloomberg, Reuters, AsianBondsOnline, CEIC).
  • Government statistics: General Statistics Office of Vietnam (GSO) for macro data, Ministry of Construction for real estate data.
  • International organizations: World Bank, IMF, ADB, FTSE Russell official publications.

2. Cross-Referencing

We cross-check key claims against at least two independent sources. When sources conflict, we note the discrepancy rather than picking the number that looks better.

3. On-the-Ground Experience

Many articles draw on our direct, first-hand experience investing in Vietnam — opening brokerage accounts, purchasing property, navigating banking systems, and dealing with tax reporting. When we share personal experience, we label it as such and distinguish it from verified data.

4. Expert Input

For complex regulatory or tax topics, we consult with local professionals — including Vietnamese securities lawyers, licensed tax advisors, and brokerage compliance officers. We do not name these individuals unless they’ve given explicit permission.

How We Handle Conflicts of Interest

Affiliate Relationships

Some articles contain affiliate links to brokers, financial tools, and services. When you sign up through these links, we may earn a commission at no additional cost to you.

Our rules:

  • Affiliate relationships never determine whether we recommend a product. We have published critical reviews of products from companies that pay us affiliate commissions.
  • We disclose affiliate relationships at the top of every article that contains affiliate links.
  • We only link to products or services we have personally used, tested, or thoroughly vetted.
  • If we haven’t personally used a product, we say so explicitly.

Advertising

As the site grows, we may display advertisements. Ad placements will never influence editorial content, and we will clearly separate advertising from editorial material.

Investments

Alex Nguyen holds personal investments in Vietnamese equities, real estate, and fixed-income instruments. When writing about specific stocks or sectors where a personal position exists, we will disclose this within the article. Our coverage decisions are not influenced by personal holdings.

What We Don’t Do

  • We don’t provide personalized financial advice. Our content is educational and informational. Your situation is unique — consult a qualified advisor.
  • We don’t guarantee accuracy. Markets change. Regulations update. Data can be revised. We do our best, but errors happen. When we find them, we correct them and note the change.
  • We don’t accept payment for editorial coverage. No company can pay to receive a favorable review or analysis on this site.
  • We don’t fabricate data. If we can’t verify a number, we either cite the source with appropriate caveats or leave it out.

Corrections Policy

We take factual accuracy seriously. If you find an error in any article:

  1. Email us at thevietnamyield@gmail.com with the article URL and the specific claim you believe is incorrect.
  2. We will review the claim against our sources within 48 hours.
  3. If a correction is warranted, we will update the article and add a note at the top or bottom indicating what was changed and when.

Significant corrections (those that affect the substance of analysis or recommendations) will be noted at the top of the article. Minor corrections (typos, formatting, broken links) will be made without notation.

Content Freshness

Financial information can become outdated quickly. Here’s how we handle this:

  • Every article displays a “Last Updated” date so you know when the content was last reviewed.
  • We review high-impact articles (brokerage guides, tax guides, regulatory content) at least quarterly or when relevant regulations change.
  • Year-tagged content (e.g., “2026 Guide”) is reviewed and updated at the start of each calendar year or retired if no longer relevant.
  • Market data and statistics cited in articles are point-in-time snapshots. We note the date of the data wherever possible.

A Note on “YMYL” Content

Much of what we publish falls under what Google calls “Your Money or Your Life” (YMYL) content — topics that can materially impact a reader’s financial well-being. We take this classification seriously:

  • We never present speculation as fact.
  • We clearly label opinions, estimates, and projections.
  • We include disclaimers on every article.
  • We cite sources for verifiable claims.
  • We encourage readers to seek professional advice for their specific situation.
